Held annually on January 1st but arguably beginning on December 31st of the previous year, New Year's Day is the Aerican celebration of the start of the new year. This day is celebrated concurrently with new year celebrations of the surrounding macronations where applicable, albeit three minutes sooner, as Imperial clocks run on Imperial Standard Time. Celebrations classically involve copious amounts of alcohol, although this is not mandatory, nor even necessarily encouraged.
This holiday was adopted some time prior to January 1999.
